If a child is in immediate danger, call 911.
This website is not monitored around the clock and must never be used to report an emergency.
Not legal advice
Familist CPS Family Advocate is not a law firm. Nothing on this website, in our guides, or in a consultation is legal advice, and no attorney–client relationship is created by reading this site, sending a form, or speaking with us. Child welfare law differs by state and changes over time. If you are involved in a CPS case, retain a licensed attorney in your jurisdiction. We work alongside your attorney — never in place of one.
Not a therapeutic relationship
Consultation, advocacy and educational services are not psychotherapy, diagnosis or treatment, and do not by themselves create a clinician–patient relationship. Where a service is clinical in nature, that is agreed separately in writing and is subject to the licensing rules of the state involved. If you are in mental health crisis, call or text 988 in the United States, or contact your local emergency service.
Educational materials are general
Guides, checklists, templates, training content and articles are general information. They are not tailored to your circumstances, may not reflect the rules of your state or country, and may be out of date. Always check how something applies to your case with your attorney or caseworker before acting on it.
No guaranteed outcome
Case studies and testimonials on this site describe individual past experiences. Details have been changed to protect confidentiality. Outcomes depend on facts, agencies and courts outside our control. Past results do not predict or guarantee the result in your case, and nothing on this site should be read as a promise of reunification, dismissal, custody or any other outcome.
Licensing and jurisdiction
Clinical practice is licensed in Alaska and Ohio. Remote consultation, case-plan coaching, document review and education are offered more broadly, but any service that constitutes licensed practice is limited to those states. Expert witness engagements may require jurisdiction-specific arrangements and are quoted case by case.
Mandatory reporting
Our clinician is a mandated reporter. Suspected child abuse or neglect, and credible threats of serious harm, must be reported to the appropriate authority. This obligation applies regardless of any confidentiality agreement, and we will explain it before you engage our services.
Confidentiality of this website
Web forms, email and messaging apps are not secure channels and are not HIPAA-protected. Please send only enough information for us to contact you. See our Privacy Policy for detail.
External resources
Links to agencies, statutes and other organisations are provided for convenience. We do not control that content and are not responsible for its accuracy.
